About

Sambastian

The Sambastian Group will immerse you in the essence of samba and the vibrant musical atmosphere of Rio de Janeiro! Samba, a Brazilian musical genre with African roots, is a delight both to dance to and to listen to. In Sambastian, batucada blends with exquisite melodies of mandolin, flute, guitar, and vocals, creating a truly fascinating sound ensemble.

This project arises from the encounter between Basque and Brazilian musicians, united by their passion for samba and their residence in Euskal Herria. Sambastian is composed of Daniel Bordonaba on pandeiro, Dom Oliveira on cavaquinho and mandolin, Hugo Silveira on guitar, Juan Luis Anula on percussion, and Ramón Murcia on flute and percussion.

Sambastian can perform as a quintet, quartet, or trio, thus offering great flexibility according to the environment and audience preferences. Their repertoire ranges from the lively energy of a Roda de Samba, where everyone dances, to the elegance of instrumental music such as chorinho and bossa-nova. With this variety, Sambastian promises an exciting and unique musical experience at any event.
